Gardentown Holiday Workshop-The Paper Shop Project

During The second week of the September School Holidays. The Artsorted Worx, will be running the Gardentown children's Holiday Program as well as our own. Its called The Paper Shop Project......

Which place does a parent frequent the most? Shopping centres would certainly rate high on the list. At some stage in everyone’s childhood, they played ‘SHOP’. Whether it be selling cars, pretend food or homemade artworks they have created.
Some of the best lessons in math, language development, science, and social studies are hidden among the boxes, bags, and cans on the shelves, and in the glass cabinets of the local shopping centre.
Making shopping engaging can keep children involved in this wonderful learning experience and less likely to whine and fuss. This is turn ensures fewer disruptions to a parent's to do list whilst shopping and the potential to accomplish all they set out to do!
As the festival is being held in a shopping centre, it is a great opportunity to draw inspiration from the surrounding atmosphere. Each workshop/activity will have a shop theme; exploring not only the experience of going shopping in role as consumer, but also from a shop keeper’s point of view in displaying stock , finding products etc.

3 different themed workshops will run 3 times a day @$15.00 per child per session. Ages 4-8.

10:30-11:30am

12:00-1:00pm

1:30-2:30pm

Themes:

THE TOP HAT BOUTIQUE:Top Hats are back in fashion!!. Help our Boutique owner to keep up with supply, and new designs.

THE PAPER PETAL FLORIST: Learning secret tips from the florist, create your own arrangement with the freshest and latest flowers

Basic Adults Classes
This is a 2 hour weekly class in 5 week blocks these classes allow everyday people to learn basic Art techniques. No prior
experience is needed ,only a willingness to participate. Enjoy a relaxed, creative and fun atmosphere. There are three classes to choose from: Introduction, Drawing, Painting and Mixed Media. We are happy to design a course in a specific area if we get enough interest.
5wk blocks- $176.00 includes all materials, and use of an apron.

Why do Art lessons with The Artsorted Worx?
Children often enjoy art as it is an activity where they can socialize and build friendships whilst learning. It is also a kinesthetic learning experience, which allows children to physically learn as well as mentally.

Art lessons should be a place where students can participate in artistic experiences, they can’t anywhere else. They can make a mess and experiment without getting into trouble for wasting materials. But above all they can enjoy themselves, no matter what skills they come to the class with.

Art can be used as a tool to build many principles, such as self teaching, confidence, patience, problem solving, time management, independent working and developing creative thinking in many areas other than fine Arts.

We teach skills and techniques from traditional (drawing, painting, realism etc) and contemporary art areas( abstract art, Expressionism, collage etc)
We provide opportunities for children to use a wide range of materials and explore artistic industries most schools are not able to do.
Each activity is individually designed for the relevant age group and interests of the group.
Students learn more than just technique they are also exposed to: relevant artists & historical background.
